That was an amazing video, and the exact same issue that has been on my heart for a while. I lead a young adults ministry, and this whole idea has been constantly smacking us in the face for some time now. In fact, earlier this year we held a "conference" at our church to do a study called "Get Uncomfortable" (from threadsmedia.com). Here is a link to the video of each of the lessons that we did that speak to this same message...

Ever since we have all been moved with compassion for the "needy" in the world around us. We are starting to do some work here in our own city, but are looking for practical ways that we can expand that reach. I am also blogging on this type of stuff at my blog, and I would love to see how we can work together to push this message out to more people.

H - I think you hit on an important aspect: what am I doing? Sure, we can push toward social and political reform, but on a daily basis, am I being intentional about being a steward of what God has given me.

C - I definitely agree on the stewardship issue. But I don't think it's a loss cause! We can still make changes.

S - So glad you stopped by. I definitely have been enjoying reading your blog. Interesting questions you pose. Not that I have "the answer" but my initial reaction is: The changing? That's God's deal. The willingness to be changed? That's ours. I've been thinking a little bit about that concept as it relates to my walk, but that's another post (which is brewing).

Someone asked me about a social change website recently, and one thought led to the next till I reached the following questions. They may sound cynical, but they are real questions for me on this fabulous topic of faith and work:

How much change is our responsibility and how much is God's? And if we keep changing toward the good, how far along are we? Can we project a completion date for what amounts to the New Heavens and New Earth? Will we reach a certain point of human exhaustion at which point God will step in like parents do with toddlers?

None of these provide an excuse to quit doing the right thing, but they certainly pique my curiosity.

Thanks for the great video, spaghettipie!
